View from the cafe onto the Cathedral Green

WelcomE…

If you wend your way through Brecon's picturesque Georgian streets and follow the road up meandering Priory Hill you will find hidden behind some high medieval walls, beneath the dappled shade of some ancient sycamores the hidden gem that is The Hours Cafe & Bookshop. After twelve years on Ship Street the business has relocated to the grounds of beautiful Brecon Cathedral. It's new home - three interconnected old barns facing the Cathedral itself - is steeped in history and provides a unique, ambient and characterful setting for one of the town's most loved businesses. The Cafe and Bookshop each now occupy their own unique spaces and there is ample outside (dog-friendly) seating whatever the weather. The bookshop offers a carefully hand-picked (but bigger) selection of books and gifts and the Cafe offers a thoughtful selection of the best Welsh food and drink - notably 'The Pilgrims Repaste' and the Homemade Welsh Rarebit - to suit every appetite and pocket.

The Cathedral Church of St John The Evangelist is a beautiful building and has some of the most magnificent stained glass windows at any place of worship in the UK. The Cathedrals quietly glowing Deanery, it's range of buildings (some dating to the Middle Ages) the grounds itself, the infamous Priory Groves and the babbling nearby Honddu makes The Hours a truly tranquil and nourishing spot to while away an hour (or more!).

A Cafe, a Bookshop, an Events space, a Meeting place - a still-point offering all the soul-food you need in an often bewildering world. Come and see us, a warm welcome awaits...

Fabulous salads and sandwiches, but the stand out was the cake, lime and courgette was superb, but our party raved over the warm apple and caramel. Everyone wants to go back!
